Week Six

Dr. Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) is a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney) in command of his last flight before retiring. But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone - tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. A simple enough plot has developed a great reputation as many people have been raving about the success of the film. Even if the plot seems easy to read and the special effects aren't out of this world, audiences across the world will still go to watch it. The film casts George Clooney and Sandra Bullock, two well know Hollywood super stars, having these two creates a pre-determinded audience which means it is inevitable that Gravity will be a hit. http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&frm=1&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&ved=0CDMQtwIwAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DOiTiKOy59o4&ei=ramAUoCLIoithQfWmICIBQ&usg=AFQjCNGGyQMW3v_BIUg4EFQvBl1HZqgvtQ&sig2=UcVN0m28mIe1JPrjRj8X4Q

Week Five

Captain Phillips stars 2-time Oscar winner Tom Hanks in the true story of Captain Richard Phillips and the 2009 hijacking by Somali pirates of the US-flagged MV Maersk Alabama, the first American cargo ship to be hijacked in 200 years. The film is directed by Oscar nominee Paul Greengrass.

Personally I feel quite excited to see this film as its the type of role I haven't seen Tom Hanks play, I'm interested in how they can make the film successful and touching as the story itself doesn't normally appeal to me. I also love how authentic it is, as the film casted real Somali actors, instead of using Americans. This shows how the film has impacted in Africa.

Week Four

Many people despise sequels as they never quite live up to the reputation and hype of the original, however, this is what Empire have rated as the top ten sequels ever made:
  1. Aliens
  2. The Godfather part 2
  3. Terminator 2 Judgement Day
  4. Toy Story 2
  5. The Dark Knight
  6. Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
  7. The Bourne Supremacy
  8. Before Sunset
  9. Superman 2
  10. Evil Dead 2
This list does not surprise me as they were made with a popular cast who'd not want to disappoint their fans, also the originals had made a lot of revenue which gives the sequels a bigger budget to spend on script writers, special effects and even more stars. The list is full of great films, however we all know...you can't beat the first one.

Week Three

Ron Burgundy isn't just delivering the news. He's also selling cars. Dodge has released a series of videos revealing their partnership with Will Ferrell's character from the popular Anchorman movies for the 2014 Dodge Durango ad campaign. "Proud to announce one of the best Rons in the business is the new face of Durango. #BurgundyDodge http://www.burgundydodge.com," the car brand's Twitter posted. So why does Ron Burgundy think you should buy a 2014 Dodge Durango? Let's go over all the perks... The vehicle has 360 horsepower, which, according to Burgundy, makes the Dodge Durango 360 better than a horse. http://youtu.be/ZzfVT6j_1dY The series of adverts have made me feel excited as the long build up to the much anticipated sequel is due December 22nd as Ron Burgundy is 100% my favourite character Will Ferrell has portrayed, this happens to be the only sequel in which he has reprised the same role, showing the immense popularity of
the news reporting comedy hit.

Week Two

Star Wars fans across the world have been enlightened with the speculation of a Wookie return in JJ Abram's first go at resurrecting the phenomenon of a saga. The much anticipated sequel set to release in 2015 has caused many debates to how they will continue the story which saw an end to the dark side of the force. Who will they be fighting this time? One things for sure, Wookies are back. That's right, our furry smelly giant is rumoured to come back. This was suggested as the film, which is being shot in England, asked for actors '7ft to 7.3ft tall with a slim build and upright posture' The height requirement has prompted many to believe...he's back. Peter Mayhew who played Chewbacca in the original Star Wars was 7 foot 2 inches, so there is reason to be excited! With the possible return of Chewie does that mean he'll be sidekick to the iconic Han Solo once again? Harrison Ford has been rumoured to return to his beloved Millennium Falcon as he kept quiet when asked during interviews. With a likely return for Ford, this fuelled speculation of Mark Hamill dusting off his robes to make a come back as Luke Skywalker. Many reports have suggested that Mark has began a diet in order to get back to shape to reprise the role. All this speculation has made middle-aged nerds still in love with A New Hope to shiver with excitement as we can only hope the latest instalment shapes up to be as magical as the original. http://youtu.be/7T0vs9gYydo
